Inspired by a follower!

In “Numbers Thursday” on 31st March, I asked which literary characters you would most like to punch in the face. One of my awesome blog followers, (Algernon, you star!) wrote the following:

I just wish to thump Lyra Silvertongue, from His Dark Materials. There is just something about how useless she is in everything, and yet apparently is so important. Luckily she does have Pan.

Now, I LOVE the daemons in Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. This comment got me thinking about them and my question to you is this:

If you had a daemon, what would it be and why?

I guess some of you won’t know what I mean by this so, in short, a daemon is an animal which is like the external, physical incarnation of your soul. The animal you choose should be a reflection of your personality. Try to be as honest as you can. You may want to be a lion, but are you really a weasel?

Comments please 🙂

I would have Hobbes from the Cavin and Hobbes collection, just for those days when you need a best friend who understands you completely and will just be there for a hug!

    Happy trails

I’d like to have a butterfly daemon. Caterpillars are just butterflies waiting to happen and THIS caterpillar hopes she has a butterfly on the inside.

Saying that…my daemon would probably be a slug or a sloth lol.

LOL! Had to Google that one but it’s so cute! However, it was meant to be a reflection of your personality, not what you actually look like when smiling for family photos…

After much thought, I’ve decided I’d want a hedgehog, because I’m a bit prickly but also quite shy. I can also be quite stupid, which is something I associate with hedgehogs…

Do you also have flees, Catrin? I can believe that you have trouble crossing roads…you are very blonde, no matter what colour you dye your hair!

I could be a clean hedgehog! Although you’re right about the roads, everytime we go to London either Chelsey or Angharad ends up dragging me by the arm 😦

I would be a black cat, just cause Tiki (my cat) can be very much like me…evil and annoying 🙂 (my father just nodded obviously)….. x

    Um…no. Neither does Tiki.
Whatever you say, I am not a turtle because I’m slow ¬¬
I’m only slow at times…not all the time 🙂 x

I reckon that mine would be a fox perhaps, as I’m more prepared to act darker in order to scare off others. However, I’m pretty loyal once you get to know me, as I long as I like the person. Sharp and witty thats me as well, and I also go and retreat into myself.

Ah the inspiration speaks! So, Algernon. Calling yourself a fox are you? And here I thought Algernon was a mouse… 😛

Well I could be a mouse as well intelligent, resourceful and in particular One of a Kind 😀

Hmmm. I don’t see you as a giggling scavenger. I think you would either have a monkey (I remember you being all springy and agile and intelligent) or maybe a labrador. No idea why a labrador though lol. Maybe you remind me of the Andrex puppy! 😛
